Hide Me

a person standing in the cleft of a rock with the words "hide me" describing the post.

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Psalm 17:8

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

Genesis 3:8-9

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:5

Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers. They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.

Psalm 64:1-3

Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you.

Psalm 143:9

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Colossians 3:2-4

Hidden

by Audrey Frank

Part One

The sound of my name

Rustled the leaves

Heavy with dew

Drops fell in answer

To Your voice.

Kindness called out to me

Light through the tree boughs

Warmed me

Invited me

To answer.

Patience waited for me

Remained in the clearing

Steadfast, present

Until I had courage

To emerge.

The One who is my Hiding Place

Drew me out of hiding

Released me from shame

Into the embrace

Of His strong arms.

Shame has no more hold on me

Alone is not my destiny

Silence is not my pedigree

Fear is not my company

Jesus honored me.

Part Two

Now when I need to run and hide,

He conceals me by His wounded side;

In the shadow of His wings I bide,

The apple of His eye.

Assailed by danger all around,

Running, running to the sound,

Of His voice in the trees;

My Lord He hides and shelters me.

Barraged by words unkind and false,

I search for the silhouette of the Cross,

Beneath its comforting shadow lie;

Hide me, hold me, while I cry.

Set my thoughts on things above;

Keep me in the Savior’s love;

I have died and I’m now hidden,

With Christ in God, all glory given.

On that day we’ll both appear,

Fully known,

Completely clear;

No more hiding,

No more pain,

No more sorrow,

No more shame.
