For All Who Would Be Wisemen

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

 Isaiah 11:2

Calling all ye foolish, all ye confused… your camel is ready!

For all who would be wisemen, Christmas is your holiday. At Christmastime, Wisdom and Knowledge came in person. Do you wish you had the wisdom to make the right decisions about your future, wisdom to know how you should respond to the throbbing pain of a broken world?

Well, your wish came true at Christmastime.

The wisemen rode over 700 miles on camels to meet Wisdom. To fall at His feet and worship Him. To give Him the best gifts they could muster, which in the end some say were foreshadowing the price Wisdom would pay so we could also be wise.

How far are you willing to go for Wisdom? How badly do you want it this year?

The good news is you don’t have to ride a camel to find it. But you can, if that sounds fun to you. I’ve heard of much worse vehicles to wisdom.

Your Wisdom gift has come. Ready for you. All you have to do is seek Him. You’ll surely find Him, right there nestled in the rough-hewn wood of a manger that would one day give way to a cross.

Make a commitment to yourself that you will seek Wisdom this Christmas.

One way to find it is to use the Bible as your map. Daily time in the Word will keep you on the right path.

Another way is to travel with other wisemen. Surround yourself with people who are also seeking the Messiah. Talk deep into the night about Truth and help each other stay the course. Appreciate one another’s unique gifts. Stick together. Fall on your knees side by side in worship of the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Wisdom has come, and His name is #Immanuel, God with us. For all who would be wisemen, #Christmas is your wish-come-true. Click To Tweet

Wisdom is no longer merely the esoteric pursuit of mystics. Wisdom is for the common man and the king, the poor and the rich, the lost and the found. Wisdom came living, breathing, incarnate God-in-the-flesh so that every person could draw near.

Shall we?

Lord, I choose to seek Wisdom this Christmas. Amen.
