  • Musings on Being a Peacemaker
Posted on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 | Filed under Bible Study, Blog Post, Devotional | Tagged: 1 Peter 3:10-12, Audrey Frank, conflict, dove, floods, Genesis 8, Matthew 5:9, Noah's Ark, peace, peacemaker, Prince of Peace, Psalm 34:12-14, Revelation 1:4-6, seek peace and pursue it, war

…seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14b, 1 Peter 3:11b, NIV   Then Noah sent out a dove to see if the waters had receded from the surface of the ground. Genesis 8:8, NET There is more than one kind of flood bringing destruction to the earth today. The waters of conflict, unrest, and war rise over the landscape. Where are the Noahs of today? Who is willing to open the window and send out their peace until it finds a place to lodge in the heart of another? • Compassion That Never Fails
Posted on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 | Filed under Blog Post, Devotional, Stories | Tagged: Africa, Audrey Frank, compassion, compassion fatigue, Lamentations 3:22, trauma, war, we are not consumed

Despair becomes avoidance, even as the needs of the world grow greater. There is a compassion that never fails, and it is powered by limitless love. I don’t know about you, dear reader, but my compassion has limits because my love has limits. Does yours? I didn’t want my love to have limits. I once thought I could love endlessly. It took a mere six months among a… Read More

Posted on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 | Filed under Blog Post, Culture, Devotional | Tagged: Audrey Frank, Colossians 3:23, Ecclesiastes 9:10, John 9:4, Psalm 46, secondary trauma, war, work while it is still day, work with all your heart, work with thy might

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. Ecclesiastes 9:10   Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Colossians 3:23   As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. John 9:4 We can be immobilized or mobilized by today’s headlines of war and trauma in the world. Jesus had no paper to read, no text messages barraging His phone, no phone! He had no widescreen, thin screen, folding screen to flash the latest deaths of innocent people across His consciousness, ruining His day. He carried it all, every single war, every innocent child killed, every weeping… Read More
